Emeljanovskaja Biofabrika Fermented Fireweed Tea with Lingonberry is a natural herbal tea blend combining fermented fireweed (Ivan tea, Chamerion angustifolium / Epilobium angustifolium) leaves with lingonberry (Vaccinium vitis-idaea) leaves and dried lingonberries. Fermented fireweed — known as Ivan-chai in the Russian herbal tradition — is prepared by a natural enzymatic oxidation process analogous in principle to the oxidation of black tea leaves, which develops a rich, full-bodied taste profile and a characteristic dark amber infusion colour. Lingonberry contributes a gentle berry aroma and natural tartness to the brew, as well as additional tannins and polyphenolic compounds. The combination produces a satisfying, deep-flavoured caffeine-free herbal tea blend.

Emelyanovskaya Biofabrika EMELJANOVSKAJA BIOFABRIKA Põdrakanepitee pohlaga 50 g is a loose herbal tea made from fermented fireweed, also known as Ivan-chai, blended with lingonberry leaves and dried berries. People usually choose this kind of caffeine-free drink when they want a deeper, more rounded cup than many light herbal infusions can offer, especially in the evening or during the working day when coffee or strong tea feels too stimulating.
What makes this blend interesting is the fermentation of fireweed leaves. In practice, this means the plant material goes through natural enzymatic oxidation, a process that changes both aroma and taste. The grassy note of fresh fireweed becomes darker, smoother and more tea-like, with a full-bodied amber infusion. Lingonberry adds a gentle tart berry accent and a fresher top note, so the cup feels less flat and more layered. Both fireweed and lingonberry naturally contain plant compounds such as tannins, flavonoids and other polyphenols, which give herbal teas their characteristic structure, slight dryness and rounded finish.
Ivan-chai has a long history in Northern and Eastern European herbal tea culture as a traditional alternative to classic tea. In this blend, it is paired with lingonberry, a berry well known in Nordic cuisine for its vivid, pleasantly sharp flavour. The result is a herbal drink that suits slow breakfasts, quiet breaks, cooler weather, or any moment when you want a warming cup without caffeine. It can also be a good option for people who enjoy black-tea-like depth but want a botanical infusion instead of Camellia sinensis tea.
This herbal tea is best seen as a flavourful part of a balanced lifestyle rather than a functional shortcut. If you are sensitive to any of the ingredients, including lingonberry or other plants from the heather family, choose with caution. As with any concentrated herbal infusion, it is wise to start moderately if this type of tea is new to you.
