FBT Tiibeti Palsam is applied locally to areas of tension: the neck, shoulders, back, lower back, knees and elbows. A small amount of balm is rubbed in with light massaging movements until absorbed – this enhances the warming effect and helps the formula penetrate the skin better.
Menthol and warming ingredients create a contrasting effect that many people describe as ‘cool at first, then warm’. This is no accident: menthol activates the cold receptors in the skin, so a light freshness is felt in the first few seconds after application. Then the warming substances boost local blood circulation and the area starts to feel noticeably warmer, while the menthol makes this warmth more contrasting and noticeable.
Chondroitin and glucosamine are widely known as ingredients of oral joint supplements, but they are also included in topical formulas – creams, balms and gels – for application to the knees, elbows, lower back and other areas where stiffness or tension is felt after exertion.
