Cedar resin is a natural resin secreted by a conifer tree. In Siberian tradition it has long been used as a food and household product. In this balm it acts as the active component with a pronounced resinous, piny taste and aroma — it is the resin that gives the product its distinctive ‘taiga’ character.
The balm is best suited for adding to ready-made dishes without heat treatment. The unrefined oil it contains is sensitive to high temperatures: when heated, it loses its natural aroma and characteristic qualities. For the same reason, the resin reveals itself best when cold.
The balm contains cedar resin — the resinous sap of a conifer tree. Resins and conifer components are among the substances that can cause allergic reactions in sensitive people. If you have previously reacted to conifers, products made from them or resins, it is best to avoid this balm or consult a doctor beforehand.
