What does “semi-rigid fixation” mean, and how is this corset different from a soft posture strap?

“Semi-rigid” describes a level of support between a soft posture strap and a rigid orthopedic brace. The corset does not lock the body completely, but it limits excessive movement and gives the torso a clearer mechanical frame. In practice, this means it helps keep the back in a more aligned position and gently draws the shoulders back, which is useful when you sit for long periods, work at a desk, or study and your posture tends to collapse.

Compared with a simple soft strap, which mainly pulls the shoulders, this corset provides support over a larger area of the upper body. The firmer structure makes it easier to notice when you start to slouch because you feel the tension of the corset. It still leaves enough freedom to move, breathe, and carry out normal non-intensive activity.

Because it is firmer, correct fitting matters more. If it is too loose it can shift; if it is too tight it can create pressure points. The corset should sit with even contact and feel like a guide, not like a splint.

This product is a physical aid only. It is not a replacement for muscle work, movement, or a specialist’s assessment. It is not suitable if a doctor has recommended rigid spinal fixation, and it should not be worn over skin irritation in the contact area.
