VITATEKA Fireweed Tea with Sea Buckthorn 100g is a traditional herbal tea blend that pairs the celebrated fermented fireweed leaf tea base with two further wild botanical co-ingredients: sea buckthorn berries (Hippophaë rhamnoides) and calendula flowers (Calendula officinalis) — both wild-harvested in the pristine Krasnoyarsk region forests of Siberia (Emelyanovskoje forest). Fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium L., ivan-chai) provides the characteristically warm, honey-floral, deeply comforting base of the blend. Sea buckthorn (Hippophaë rhamnoides) is one of Siberia's most celebrated wild berries, with an exceptional natural richness in vitamin C, vitamin E, carotenoids and omega-7 fatty acids — recognised throughout Northern and Eastern European tradition as a powerfully nutritious berry. Its tart, vivid, pleasantly intense berry-citrus flavour adds a delightful sour-sweet freshness that perfectly lifts and brightens the mellow fireweed base. Calendula petals bring a subtle honey-herb golden warmth that rounds out the blend beautifully. Sea buckthorn adds a vivid berry-citrus tang, while calendula softens the sharper edges and leaves a gentle herbal warmth in the finish. Compared to plain fireweed tea, this blend is more layered: you get the earthy, slightly sweet base of the fermented leaf, then a lively, tangy brightness from the berries, and a soft, rounded aftertaste from the calendula. It is caffeine-free, so it can be enjoyed at any time of day without the stimulating effect of black tea or coffee.
Because this is a botanical blend, the character of the infusion depends largely on steeping time. For a lighter, brighter cup, steep for about 5 minutes. For a deeper, more full-bodied brew with more pronounced honey and berry notes, extend the steeping to 10 minutes. Use roughly 1–2 teaspoons of the blend per 200–250 ml of water. Water temperature around 90–95°C is ideal – just off the boil – to avoid scalding the leaves and making the tea taste bitter. You can brew it in a teapot or directly in a cup with a strainer. The leaves can be re-steeped once, though the second infusion will be noticeably weaker. If you prefer a sweeter cup, a small amount of honey or a slice of lemon complements the berry notes well, but it is also pleasant on its own. Store the tea in an airtight container away from light, moisture, and strong odours to preserve its aroma.
