LEKRASET chicory roots are dried roots of common chicory, a traditional herbal raw material used to prepare a warm infusion. People usually choose chicory when they want a mild bitter herb for digestion-friendly herbal teas or when they are interested in classic plant ingredients with a long history of use in food and herbal practice.
The root of Cichorium intybus is naturally rich in bitter compounds and inulin, a type of plant fibre. Bitter substances are valued because they stimulate taste receptors on the tongue, which can encourage the body’s normal digestive response, including the release of digestive juices. Inulin is a non-digestible fibre that passes further into the gut, where it can serve as nourishment for beneficial intestinal bacteria. This is one reason chicory root is often associated with a balanced diet and a lighter feeling after meals.
What makes this product appealing is its simplicity: this is not an extract or an instant drink, but 100% dried chicory root. That format suits people who prefer traditional herbal preparation and want to make an infusion themselves. Chicory also has a long European history as both a food plant and a drink ingredient, especially in roasted form as a coffee alternative. In herbal use, the root is appreciated for its distinctly bitter, earthy profile.
LEKRASET chicory roots may suit someone who enjoys classic herbal teas, wants to diversify their menu with plant-based fibre sources, or is looking for a caffeine-free bitter infusion to include with meals or during periods when heavier foods are common. Because herbs can affect people differently, it is wise to use chicory thoughtfully. If you are prone to allergies to Asteraceae plants, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have ongoing digestive sensitivity, it is sensible to check with a healthcare professional before regular use.
