Rosehips, the fruit, are widely known above all for their high vitamin C content and pronounced sour taste. The root is a different part of the plant with a different set of natural compounds. It is dominated by tannins, organic acids and other plant components, which give it a more restrained, earthy flavour profile without noticeable sourness.
Rosehip root is a tough plant material that releases its substances much more slowly than leaves or flowers. According to the manufacturer's instructions, an infusion is prepared: pour 1 glass (200 ml) of boiling water over 4.5 g of the root, leave to infuse for 10–15 minutes, then strain and squeeze out.
