What is the snake venom peptide and is it safe in a cosmetic cream?

The "snake venom peptide" in this cream-balsam is a lab-synthesized peptide (often referred to in cosmetics as a syn-ake type peptide) modeled after a protein found in the venom of the Temple Viper (Tropidolaemus wagleri). In cosmetic use, it is included at low concentrations as a skin-conditioning agent that contributes to the product's targeted feel and texture; it does not contain actual venom, nor does it act systemically. Such peptides have been used in European and Asian cosmetic formulations for over a decade and are generally well tolerated on intact skin. However, because this product also delivers a pronounced warming effect from Adam's root, the combination can feel more active than a standard peptide cream. If you have a known allergy to peptides or have reacted to other "venom-inspired" cosmetics, do a patch test on the inner forearm for 24 hours before broader use. As with any cosmetic, discontinue if irritation, excessive redness, or itching develops.
