How do I prepare a pressed tea brick? Can I reuse the leaves?

Pressed tea bricks are designed for portioning and multiple brews. To prepare, you typically break or crumble off a piece from the brick. A common starting point is about one teaspoon of crumbled tea per cup (approx. 200-250 ml) of hot water. Since this blend contains spices and fermented herbs, using water just off the boil (around 95°C) helps extract the full, rounded flavor. Steep for 5-7 minutes, then strain.

A key feature of pressed, fermented teas is their suitability for multiple infusions. You can often steep the same leaves 2-3 times, with slightly longer steeping times for subsequent brews, discovering how the flavor evolves from spiced and robust to softer and more mellow. Experiment to find your preferred strength. Store the remaining brick in a cool, dry place away from strong odors to preserve its aroma.
