This flaxseed oil is not suitable for frying, sautéing or other high-heat cooking. The product description states that it is best used for finishing foods rather than frying, because the oil is sensitive to heat and oxidation. The omega-3 fats that make flaxseed oil desirable are delicate, and high temperatures can degrade the oil and create unpleasant flavours.
If you want the oil in a warm dish, add it at the end: stir it into porridge after cooking, drizzle it over cooked grains or vegetables once they are off the heat, or mix it into a sauce just before serving. Cooking with it is not recommended.
For frying and roasting, use a different oil intended for heat, such as rapeseed, sunflower or olive oil. Keep flaxseed oil for cold preparations like salad dressings, cottage cheese spreads and smoothies.
This does not mean the oil cannot be part of your everyday cooking. It simply fills the role of a raw finishing oil rather than a cooking fat.
