What Is ICONFIT Stevia
ICONFIT Stevia 1 kg is a plant-based sweetener made from the leaves of Stevia rebaudiana, a South American shrub traditionally used by the Guaraní people for centuries to sweeten drinks and herbal infusions. In this 1 kg pack it comes as a fine, free-flowing powder ready to be used as a sugar substitute in the kitchen and in homemade drinks.
How It Works
The sweet taste of stevia comes from natural molecules called steviol glycosides — mostly stevioside and rebaudioside A. They are roughly 200–300 times sweeter than table sugar, so only a tiny pinch is needed to sweeten coffee, tea, smoothies, yogurt, porridge or baked goods. Because these glycosides pass through the body without being broken down for energy, stevia contributes practically no calories and no carbohydrates, and it does not raise blood glucose the way sucrose does.
For this reason it is a popular choice for people following a low-carb, keto or reduced-sugar eating plan, as well as for those simply trying to cut back on added sugar.
How to Use It
- Start small. Because of the high sweetening power, begin with a knife-tip amount and taste before adding more — too much can leave a slightly bitter or liquorice-like aftertaste.
- Mix it in. Stevia powder dissolves more evenly in warm liquids; in cold drinks stir thoroughly.
- Baking. Stevia does not caramelise or provide bulk like sugar, so in cakes and cookies it works best combined with another ingredient that gives volume (such as erythritol, apple purée or yogurt).
- Storage. Keep the pack tightly closed in a dry place to preserve the texture of the powder.
Who It Suits
The 1 kg size makes it a sensible option for households that bake often, for athletes preparing protein shakes and oatmeal, and for cafés or small producers looking for a sugar alternative in larger volumes. It also fits naturally into vegan, vegetarian and lactose-free diets.
Important Notes
Stevia is considered safe for general use, including by people watching their sugar intake. Still, taste sensitivity varies, and some find the flavour unusual at first — give yourself time to adjust the dosage. If you have a specific medical condition, take glucose-lowering medication, or are pregnant, it is wise to check with your doctor or nutritionist before making stevia a regular part of your menu.

Customer Questions
Because the steviol glycosides in this powder are roughly 200–300 times sweeter than sucrose, you need only a fraction of the volume. A practical starting point is the amount that fits on a knife tip (about 1/16 teaspoon) for a cup of coffee or tea, then taste and adjust. For a 200 ml glass of smoothie or a bowl of porridge, begin with 1/8 teaspoon. In recipes that call for 100 g of sugar, try 0.3–0.5 g of stevia powder (a small pinch) combined with a bulk ingredient such as erythritol, apple purée, or yogurt to replace the missing volume and moisture. Sweetness perception varies, so treat the first few uses as calibration — write down what worked for each application. Over-dosing is the most common reason for a bitter or liquorice-like aftertaste; if that happens, simply reduce the amount next time.
In cakes, cookies, and muffins, sugar does three things: sweetens, provides structure through bulk, and caramelises for colour and moisture retention. This stevia powder only covers the first. To keep the texture you expect, replace the sugar's weight with a combination of stevia (for sweetness) and a bulk ingredient. A typical approach: for every 100 g of sugar the recipe calls for, use 0.3–0.5 g stevia powder plus 80–90 g erythritol, or 60–70 g apple purée / mashed banana / Greek yogurt plus a little extra baking powder for lift. Because stevia does not brown, baked goods will stay paler; brushing the tops with a little milk or egg wash before baking helps. Moisture balance shifts too — if the batter looks dry, add 1–2 tablespoons extra liquid. Test small batches first and note the ratios that work for your favourite recipes.
The steviol glycosides in this powder pass through the digestive tract without being metabolised for energy, so the product adds virtually no calories and no digestible carbohydrates to your daily tally. For that reason it is widely used by people following ketogenic, low-carb, or reduced-sugar eating plans, and by those who monitor blood glucose levels. It does not trigger the insulin response that sucrose does. However, individual tolerance varies — some people report digestive discomfort with very high intakes of stevia or when combining it with sugar alcohols like erythritol. If you take glucose-lowering medication, have a diagnosed metabolic condition, or are pregnant, discuss regular use with your doctor or a registered dietitian to ensure it fits safely into your personal nutrition plan. The 1 kg pack is convenient for households that bake or prepare shakes daily, but the same dosing principles apply regardless of pack size.
The powder is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs ambient humidity and can turn into hard lumps if left exposed. After each use, press the air out of the bag, seal it with the original zip-lock or a clip, and store it in a cool, dry cupboard away from the stove, dishwasher, or sink. If you live in a humid climate, transfer a portion to a small airtight jar for daily use and keep the bulk pack sealed until refill. A food-grade silica gel packet (the kind found in supplement bottles) placed inside the jar helps maintain flowability. Should clumps form, they are harmless — break them up with a fork or pulse briefly in a clean spice grinder. Avoid refrigeration; the temperature swings when opening the door introduce condensation.
Steviol glycosides, especially stevioside, activate both sweet and bitter receptors on the tongue. At low concentrations the sweet signal dominates; as the dose rises, the bitter/liquorice note becomes noticeable. Sensitivity differs between people, so the threshold is personal. The most reliable way to avoid the aftertaste is to under-dose slightly and build up: start with a knife-tip amount per cup, taste, and add only if needed. In cold drinks the powder dissolves more slowly, so stir thoroughly and wait 30 seconds before judging sweetness. Combining stevia with a tiny pinch of salt or a splash of vanilla extract can mask bitterness in baked goods. If you consistently find the taste unpleasant even at minimal doses, you may simply be a high-sensitivity taster — in that case a blend of stevia with erythritol or monk fruit often reads cleaner.
