Eucalyptus leaves are used in two main ways: as a herbal infusion to drink and as a gargle. In both cases, the infusion is prepared first: pour 1 glass of hot boiled water over 2 tablespoons of leaves and heat in a water bath for 15 minutes, stirring from time to time. Then cool the infusion, strain it and top it up with boiled water to 200 ml.
Eucalyptus is one of the most aromatic herbal materials: its essential-oil compounds, with their characteristic camphor-like smell, are active enough to cause irritation of the mucous membranes or skin, or an allergic reaction, in sensitive people. This does not mean the product is dangerous, but it does mean it should be used mindfully. The product is not used in case of hypersensitivity to eucalyptus.
