How do you prepare an infusion of eucalyptus leaves correctly, and what is it used for?

Eucalyptus leaves are used in two main ways: as a herbal infusion to drink and as a gargle. In both cases, the infusion is prepared first: pour 1 glass of hot boiled water over 2 tablespoons of leaves and heat in a water bath for 15 minutes, stirring from time to time. Then cool the infusion, strain it and top it up with boiled water to 200 ml.

For gargling, dilute 1 tablespoon of the infusion in 1 glass of water; use the solution warm — neither hot nor cold. Hot liquid irritates the mucous membrane, while cold liquid is less effective for a scratchy throat. It is convenient to gargle several times a day, especially when the airways react to dry indoor air or seasonal stresses.

The infusion for drinking is taken as 1/4 glass 3 times a day after meals, without exceeding this amount: eucalyptus is an active herbal material with a pronounced camphor-like aroma, and the body’s reaction to it is individual. The 50 g pack contains only the leaves, without additives; it is better not to change the proportions given in the instructions.

Store the prepared infusion in a cool place for no more than 2 days. Keep the dry leaves in a closed pack away from moisture and direct light.

The leaves are not used in case of hypersensitivity to eucalyptus. If you are choosing a product for a child, are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a specialist before use.
