Helichrysum arenarium, also known as immortelle, is a classic herbal raw material for brewing tea. This low-growing member of the Asteraceae family forms dense golden flower heads that keep their shape and color when dried, which is why it is often called a 'dry flower'.
- Synonyms: immortelle, sand everlasting, Helichrysum arenarium.
- Habitat: naturally found on dry, sandy soils across Europe and Northern Asia - meadow edges, open woodlands and steppe slopes.
- Harvest and processing: flower heads are picked at the start of blooming, when ray florets just open. The raw material is dried in shade with good airflow to preserve the natural golden hue and delicate aroma.
- Organoleptics: infusion is pale golden, with a mild herbal aroma and a restrained, slightly tannic note of dry flowers.
- Culinary use: suitable for single-herb infusions and blends. Pairs well with mint, lemon balm, chamomile, thyme and citrus peel. Can be used as a base for homemade iced tea, syrups and alcohol-free aperitifs.

What Is This Product
LEKRASET Käokullaõied 25 g is a single-herb tea made from the dried flower heads of Helichrysum arenarium, also known as immortelle or sand everlasting. People usually choose this herb when they want a classic botanical infusion with a mild, slightly tannic taste and a long tradition of use in herbal tea blends. Its golden flower heads keep their shape and color well after drying, which is why this plant is often known as a "dry flower".
Plant Compounds and Herbal Profile
What makes this product interesting is its simple, unchanged form: whole dried blossoms rather than an extract or flavored mix. In herbal practice, the flower heads are valued for their naturally occurring plant compounds, including flavonoids and aromatic substances — the components that give the infusion its characteristic aroma, taste and traditional role in herbal use. Because the raw material is harvested at the beginning of flowering and dried carefully, the tea keeps a delicate scent and a clean herbal profile.
How to Use and Combine
Immortelle has been used for a long time in European herbal tradition, especially as a brewed infusion taken before meals or included in mixed herbal teas. LEKRASET herbal raw material suits people who prefer loose botanicals and want to prepare tea themselves rather than use capsules or ready-made drinks. It can be enjoyed on its own or combined with other classic herbs for a more rounded taste:
- Mint
- Lemon balm
- Chamomile
- Thyme
- A little citrus peel
This makes it a practical option for those who like seasonal herbal teas at home or want to vary their tea selection with classic meadow plants.
Things to Keep in Mind
As with other herbs, a thoughtful approach is best. If you are sensitive to plants from the Asteraceae family, start cautiously. Longer use is generally not advised for people with high blood pressure, and if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medicines or planning a longer course, it is sensible to speak with a qualified specialist first.
