(European mistletoe), the classic semi-parasitic evergreen shrub from the Viscaceae family that grows on the branches of deciduous trees including oak, apple and poplar across Europe. In European cosmetic tradition, mistletoe herb infusion has been used topically for centuries for face and skin care and as a hair rinse, valued for its astringent, toning and conditioning properties attributed to the herb's content of viscotoxins, lectins, polysaccharides, flavonoids and phenolic acids. USE:
As a facial wash: Pour 1 tablespoon of herb into 200 ml of hot (not boiling) water; steep 15–30 minutes; cool to room temperature; use as a facial wash immediately after preparation. For extended storage, pour the infusion into ice cube trays and freeze — use the frozen cubes as a cosmetic ice treatment for the skin.
As a hair rinse / scalp treatment: Prepare as above; use as a final hair rinse after shampooing.
As a compress: Soak a cloth in the infusion and apply to the skin area for 15–20 minutes.
