Regular oxidative dyes use peroxide to lift natural pigment and PPD-based molecules to deposit new colour deep inside the hair shaft. This product works differently: it contains lawsone from Lawsonia inermis (henna) plus other botanical powders that shift the tone toward a neutral light brown. The plant pigments wrap around and bind to the keratin on the outer hair shaft rather than penetrating and lightening from within. Because there is no peroxide, it cannot lighten your hair — it only adds tone on top of what is already there. The final shade depends on your starting colour, grey percentage, porosity, and any previous chemical colouring. It also leaves hair feeling denser and smoother due to tannins and other plant compounds in the finely milled powders.

On dark blonde to light brown hair, the product typically refreshes the tone and adds visible depth with a neutral light brown cast. On medium to dark brown hair, the effect is more subtle — a warm, glossy overlay rather than a dramatic shift. Grey or white strands will take up the pigment more intensely and often appear as a brighter, copper-tinged highlight within the overall light brown result; they will not turn a uniform opaque brown the way oxidative dye does. Porous or previously bleached sections absorb more pigment and can turn darker or warmer than expected. Because the colour builds gradually with each application, occasional use gives a more individual, less uniform look than salon dye. If you need a precise, predictable shade match, a plant-based powder may not deliver that consistency.

The source advises caution if your hair is heavily bleached or recently chemically coloured. Bleached hair is highly porous and can grab plant pigment unevenly, sometimes producing a darker, warmer, or even greenish cast on very light blonde bases. Recently permed or relaxed hair may be more fragile; the paste's drying time and the slight astringency of tannins can increase brittleness. If you have used oxidative dye within the last 4–6 weeks, residual chemicals can interact unpredictably with the botanical powders. Before full application, do a strand test on a hidden section: mix a small amount, apply, leave for the intended time, rinse, and wait 24–48 hours to see the true developed shade and check hair condition. If the strand test looks uneven or the hair feels overly dry, consider a deep conditioning treatment first or wait until the chemical history grows out.

Each box contains three 20 g sachets. For shoulder-length hair of average thickness, one sachet is usually sufficient; longer or thicker hair may need two. Mix the powder with warm (not boiling) water until you have a smooth, yogurt-thick paste — roughly 50–60 ml water per 20 g sachet. Let it sit 10–15 minutes to allow the lawsone to release. Apply to clean, damp (not soaking) hair, section by section, wearing gloves. Cover with a shower cap and wrap a towel around it to keep warmth in; heat helps pigment uptake. Leave for 1–3 hours depending on desired intensity — longer gives deeper tone. Rinse thoroughly with water only; avoid shampoo for 24–48 hours so the colour can oxidise and settle. The shade continues to develop over the next two days. Store unused sachets in a cool, dry place with the foil sealed. Do not use on eyelashes or eyebrows.
