Cut agrimony is prepared in the standard way for leafy herbs: pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1 tablespoon of the herb, leave to infuse under a lid for 15 minutes, cool and strain. Adults are recommended to drink 1/3 cup 3 times a day with meals.
Dried agrimony herb is whole plant material: it retains the plant's full natural profile of compounds in the proportions in which they occur in the plant. Tannins, bitter compounds, flavonoids — all of them pass into the infusion together, without any single component being isolated.
Agrimony contains tannins — compounds that can affect the absorption of some substances when taken at the same time. For this reason, it is usually not mixed in the same cup with other tannin-rich herbs, so as not to end up with a drink that is overly astringent and heavy on the stomach.
