Cut agrimony is prepared in the standard way for leafy herbs: pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1 tablespoon of the herb, leave to infuse under a lid for 15 minutes, cool and strain. Adults are recommended to drink 1/3 cup 3 times a day with meals.
The infusion tastes astringent, with a characteristic bitterness that comes from the tannins and bitter compounds it contains. This is normal and to be expected for agrimony.
Agrimony is traditionally drunk in short courses rather than continuously — this follows the general approach to using active plant materials. It should not be your only drink throughout the day: it fits well into the diet as an addition, not as a replacement for water or other drinks.
The infusion is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or in cases of individual intolerance. People with chronic conditions or those taking medicines should consult a specialist before use.
