The Vitateka shungite plate is a small round disc, 30 mm in diameter, cut from natural shungite — a rare carbon-rich mineral found mainly in the Karelia region of north-western Russia. Each piece is engraved with the Vitateka logo and is intended as an accessory placed on the back of a mobile phone, tablet or other electronic device.
Shungite has been known for several centuries. Local tradition links it to the springs of Karelia, and today the stone is popular among people interested in lithotherapy, Ayurveda and mindful living. Its distinctive feature is a high content of carbon, including fullerene-type structures — spherical carbon molecules that have attracted scientific curiosity since the 1990s. Many users simply enjoy the calm, grounding feel of holding a piece of natural stone, while others appreciate its matte black appearance as a small object of beauty.
The plate is designed to be attached with a thin adhesive layer to the surface of a smartphone, smartwatch, laptop or Wi-Fi router.
