FARMGRUPP Oak Bark consists of dried and crushed bark of oak (Quercus sp., L.), harvested from young branches. Oak bark is one of the most tannin-rich traditional herbal raw materials in European phytotherapy, with a tannin content of 10–20% of dry weight. The tannins in oak bark are predominantly hydrolysable gallotannins and condensed catechin-type tannins, which are responsible for the strongly astringent taste of oak bark infusions and are the basis for its traditional use as a tannin-rich plant material in herbal tea preparations.
The bark also contains phlobaphenes (reddish pigments), flavonoids including quercetin and its glycosides, and a small amount of essential oil. Oak bark infusions have a characteristically dark, mahogany-coloured brew with an intense, dry, astringent and slightly bitter taste. The 50 g pack of loose dried bark provides a practical supply for herbal tea and infusion preparation.

Farm Group FARMGRUPP Oak Bark 50 g is a loose herbal tea material made from dried, crushed oak bark. People usually choose oak bark when they want a traditional, tannin-rich plant infusion with a distinctly dry, astringent taste. In European herbal practice, oak bark has long been valued not for aroma, but for its high content of plant compounds that give the brew its intense character.
The main active substances here are tannins — naturally occurring polyphenols that create the characteristic puckering sensation in the mouth. Oak bark is especially rich in gallotannins and catechin-type tannins, which bind to proteins on the mucous membranes and form a light protective layer. In plain language, this is what gives the infusion its “tightening” effect. The bark also contains flavonoids, phlobaphenes and a small amount of essential oil, which add to the plant’s traditional profile, although the tannins remain the central feature.
What makes this product interesting is the raw material itself: oak bark is one of the most tannin-dense herbs used in classic European phytotherapy, with around 10–20% tannins in the dry bark. That is why the infusion brews dark, tastes firm and slightly bitter, and is usually taken in small amounts rather than like a mild herbal tea. This format may suit people who appreciate simple single-herb preparations and want to include a traditional botanical ingredient in their daily regimen in a measured way.
Farm Group oak bark may appeal to adults who prefer loose herbs over capsules, for example those who enjoy preparing an infusion at home and value more traditional plant forms. Because the taste is strong and astringent, it is often better suited to people who are already familiar with herbal teas and do not expect a soft or aromatic drink.
As with many tannin-rich herbs, moderation matters. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, giving herbs to a child, or using medicines regularly, it is sensible to check with a healthcare professional first. If the infusion feels too harsh for you or does not fit your digestion, reduce use or choose a milder herbal option.
