FARMGRUPP Lingonberry Leaves are dried leaves of the lingonberry plant (Vaccinium vitis-idaea), a low-growing evergreen shrub of the heather family (Ericaceae) native to boreal and sub-arctic forests across Eurasia and North America. Lingonberry leaves are one of the most widely used herbal raw materials in Northern and Eastern European traditional herbal practice, with a well-documented history of use in herbal infusion preparations stretching back several centuries.
The dried leaves are characteristically dark green, leathery, and slightly aromatic, and contain a rich assortment of phytochemicals: tannins (responsible for the characteristic astringent taste of the infusion), arbutin and its derivatives (a notable hydroquinone glycoside), flavonoids, organic acids, vitamin C, and micro-minerals. Lingonberry leaf tea has a pleasantly astringent, slightly sharp, and mildly bitter taste with a subtle earthy-herbal character. The 50 g pack provides a generous supply for regular herbal tea preparation.

Farm Group FARMGRUPP Pohla lehed 50 g is a traditional herbal tea made from dried lingonberry leaves (Vaccinium vitis-idaea). In Northern and Eastern Europe, lingonberry leaf infusions have been used for generations as a simple plant-based option when people want a more astringent, bitter herbal drink instead of mild floral teas. People usually choose this kind of herb when they prefer classic herbal preparations with a long history of use and a straightforward single-plant composition.
What makes lingonberry leaves interesting is their naturally occurring mix of tannins, arbutin glycosides, flavonoids and organic acids. Tannins give the brew its slightly puckering taste: these compounds bind to proteins on the mucous membranes, which creates that dry, astringent sensation in the mouth. Arbutin is one of the best-known substances in lingonberry leaves; in herbal practice it is valued as part of the plant’s traditional profile. Flavonoids are plant polyphenols that help explain why this herb has remained popular in classic botanical use. Together, these compounds create a tea that feels more robust and “herbal” than many light infusions.
This product is simply cut dried leaves, without blends or added flavors, which makes it suitable for those who appreciate traditional herbs in their original form. It can fit well into a seasonal tea cupboard, especially for people who enjoy rotating different botanical infusions, prefer unsweetened bitter herbs, or want an alternative to mint, chamomile or fruit teas. Because it is a loose herbal raw material rather than a ready tea bag, the infusion tends to be fuller in taste and can be adjusted in strength to personal preference.
As with many tannin-rich herbs, the taste may feel quite strong for sensitive people. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, choosing herbs for a child, or using this tea for a longer period, it is sensible to check with a healthcare professional. Those who react poorly to bitter or astringent plants should start with a milder infusion.
