Start with clean, dry skin. Take a pea-to-hazelnut-sized amount and warm it between your fingertips, then press or smooth it over your face and neck. In the morning, apply it before sunscreen or makeup and wait a few minutes between layers so the cream can absorb. If you use a serum or other treatment, apply the lighter, water-based product first, then this cream, then sunscreen.
Because the texture is nourishing, many people use it as a morning moisturiser in cooler months. In warmer or more humid weather, you can simply use a smaller amount. There is no need to rinse it off.
Patch testing first is a sensible step, especially if your skin is reactive or you are trying several new products at once. Apply a little to a discreet area such as the jawline or behind the ear once a day for a few days. If the area stays calm, use it on your whole face.
Avoid the eye area, as creams can irritate the eyes. If stinging, redness, itching or breakouts develop, stop using the product and let your skin settle down. If the reaction is severe or does not settle, consult a specialist. This is a cosmetic skin-care product, not a medicine.
