Product Overview
Alteja Cedar Nut Oil, unrefined edible oil is a cold-use food oil made from cedar nuts and chosen mainly for its rich, nutty taste and minimally processed character. Because it is unrefined, the oil keeps more of the natural aroma and the small accompanying plant compounds that give it its distinctive flavor profile. This oil is 100% cedar nut oil with no flavorings, additives, or preservatives.
Key Characteristics and Usage
Cedar nut oil is naturally high in fats, especially unsaturated fatty acids. These fats are valued in the diet because they help carry fat-soluble vitamins from food and contribute to a balanced menu when used in place of harder animal fats. Unrefined oils also retain more of their original taste and delicate components than heavily processed oils, which is why they are typically used without heating.
In practical terms, this makes Alteja food oil a good option for finishing a dish rather than frying it. It is best used for:
- Salads and grain bowls
- Cooked vegetables or steamed vegetables
- Porridge or cottage cheese
- Light snacks and other ready meals
Important Considerations
Since nut oils are naturally concentrated, moderation makes sense. Please note the following:
- Allergens: If you are sensitive to nuts, sesame, or mustard, check suitability carefully, as traces of other oils may be present.
- Special Diets: If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or choosing oils for a child, it is sensible to discuss the broader diet with a qualified health professional.

Customer Questions
Unrefined vegetable oils, including cedar oil, are generally not recommended for frying at high temperatures. Intense heating destroys their natural components — unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E — and the taste of the oil can become slightly bitter.
Cedar oil is made from cedar nuts, so people with a nut allergy should treat it with caution. In addition, the manufacturer indicates the possible presence of traces of sesame and mustard — this is standard precautionary labelling, meaning that the product is produced or stored in conditions where these ingredients are also present.
Olive, linseed and cedar oils are three different products with different fatty acid compositions and different culinary characteristics. Olive oil is rich in oleic acid (omega-9) and is well suited both to dressings and to moderate heating. Linseed oil contains a lot of alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3), but has a specific, slightly bitter taste and a very short shelf life after opening.
