Bio National Black Pepper Tea is a spiced black tea blend from the GrinLab/Bio National range, combining a curated black tea blend (Nepal origin) with buckwheat seed and black pepper fruit for a warming, bold and stimulating cup with a distinct spicy kick. The black tea base provides the full-bodied, astringent foundation with caffeine and theaflavins. Buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) seeds add earthy, toasty, nutty notes and natural rutin (quercetin-3-rutinoside bioflavonoid). Black pepper (Piper nigrum) fruit provides its characteristic pungent heat from piperine (the alkaloid responsible for pepper's spicy character), along with volatile aromatic terpenes (caryophyllene, limonene) that give it warmth and depth. A milk flavouring rounds out the blend with a subtle, smooth note. The combination creates a warming, invigorating tea experience. 25 filter bags × 1.7 g.

Bio National Black Pepper Tea is a black tea blend for people who enjoy a stronger, more characterful cup than classic breakfast tea. It combines Nepal-origin black tea with buckwheat and black pepper, creating a drink that feels warm, full-bodied and gently spicy, with a soft creamy note from the milk flavouring. Many choose this kind of tea when they want something more vivid than plain black tea, especially on cold mornings or during a slow afternoon break.
The black tea base brings the familiar brisk, slightly astringent taste and naturally contains caffeine, which gives the cup its stimulating effect. It also contains theaflavins, compounds formed during tea fermentation that contribute to the deep colour and rich, structured flavour. Buckwheat adds a roasted, nutty dimension that softens the sharpness of the tea and makes the blend taste rounder. It also naturally contains rutin, a plant flavonoid found in buckwheat.
Black pepper is what gives this tea its signature twist. Its warming pungency comes mainly from piperine, the compound responsible for pepper’s spicy sensation on the palate. Pepper also contains aromatic substances such as caryophyllene and limonene, which add depth and a slightly resinous, lively aroma. In a tea blend, this creates a more layered experience: first the strong tea body, then the toasted grain note, and finally a peppery finish that lingers pleasantly.
This tea suits those who like spiced drinks but want a lighter alternative to heavily sweetened chai-style beverages. It can fit nicely into a morning cup, a focused work break, or a cosy evening moment when you still want flavour but not a dessert-like drink. Because it contains caffeine, it may be better earlier in the day for people who are sensitive to stimulants. If you avoid milk components, check the allergen information carefully, as the flavouring contains or may contain milk derivatives.
