Bio National Black Basil Tea is a caffeine-free aromatic herbal blend from the GrinLab/Bio National range, built on a complex of six botanicals — common basil (Ocimum basilicum) leaf as the lead aroma-active, combined with common goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea), common agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria), bupleurum (Bupleurum spp.), narrow-leaved fireweed/Ivan chai (Chamerion angustifolium) leaf (fermented) and cardamom fruit — on a caffeine-free black tea base. The "Black Basil" positioning of this variant in the Bio National Basil range reflects the deep, warm character of the blend: the bold essential oil of basil (linalool, eugenol, methylchavicol) is grounded in the malty depth of fermented Ivan chai and complemented by the earthy-floral notes of goldenrod and agrimony. Despite the name, the blend does not contain caffeinated black tea — the base is caffeine-free black tea. The rich aromatic complexity of this blend provides an energising sensory experience throughout the day. 25 filter bags × 1.7 g.

BioNational MUST TEE BASIILIKUGA 25*1,7G is a caffeine-free herbal tea blend for people who enjoy a deep, spicy cup without the stimulating effect of regular tea or coffee. The character of this infusion is built around basil, but it is not a simple single-herb tea. Here, basil is paired with goldenrod, agrimony, bupleurum, fermented fireweed known as Ivan chai, cardamom, and a decaffeinated black tea base that adds darker, fuller tea notes.
What makes this blend interesting is the way the plants shape both aroma and mouthfeel. Basil brings the main scent profile: warm, slightly peppery and gently sweet, thanks to its naturally occurring aromatic compounds such as linalool and eugenol. Cardamom adds a light spicy lift, while goldenrod and agrimony contribute a more meadow-like, slightly earthy tone. Fermented fireweed gives the cup roundness and a soft malty depth. This is why the tea feels richer than many plain herbal infusions: it combines the fragrant profile of herbs with some of the fuller body people often expect from darker teas.
Fermented fireweed, often called Ivan chai, has a long tradition of use in Eastern Europe as a naturally caffeine-free tea alternative. Fermentation changes the leaf’s taste, making it smoother, less grassy and more mellow. In this Bio National herbal tea, that fermented note helps connect the fresher herbal accents of basil and the warmer spice of cardamom, creating a more layered cup rather than a sharply medicinal or overly floral one.
This kind of blend suits moments when you want a warming drink in the evening, during a quiet break at work, or simply when you want variety beyond mint or chamomile. It may appeal to those who like herbal infusions with a stronger aroma and a more tea-like presence in the cup. Because the formula includes several botanicals, it is wise to choose it thoughtfully if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, giving herbal teas to children, or if you are sensitive to plant extracts. If that applies to you, check the ingredient list and ask a healthcare professional for individual advice.
