What This Shower Gel Is
SUNGIT Antioxidant Shower Gel is a cleansing gel for the body designed for people who want more than simple washing from a shower product. It removes sweat, sunscreen residue and surface impurities while leaving the skin feeling fresh and smooth. People usually choose this kind of shower gel when they want cleansing with a more interesting mineral-and-botanical profile, especially if the skin often looks dull after a long day, dry indoor air or frequent washing.
Key Ingredients and Their Role
The concept is built around three distinctive components:
- Shungite — a carbon-rich mineral traditionally associated with protective and antioxidant properties. In a wash-off cosmetic, it is valued as an ingredient that fits formulas aimed at helping the skin feel less stressed by external factors.
- Linnaea borealis extract — a botanical note from a northern plant, giving the product a more distinctive character than a standard shower gel.
- Rose quartz powder and mineral components — contribute to the overall idea of a toning, revitalising cleanse rather than a plain soap-like wash.
How the Cleansing Base Works
The formula combines several surfactants instead of relying on one ingredient alone:
- Sodium Laureth Sulfate — provides the main foaming and washing action.
- Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Sodium Cocoamphoacetate — help make the foam softer and the skin feel less stripped after rinsing.
- Glycerin — acts as a humectant, helping bind water at the skin surface during washing.
This balance matters because a body cleanser should remove excess oil and residue without leaving the skin tight immediately after the shower.
Who It Suits and When to Use It
This shower gel suits normal skin and can also be a good option for those who enjoy mineral cosmetics, textured botanical themes or a refreshing start to the morning. It fits well:
- After exercise
- During warm weather
- Whenever you want the shower to feel a little more invigorating
The fragrance, colourants and preservatives are part of the formula. If your skin is very reactive or easily irritated, it is sensible to test the product cautiously first and avoid using it on damaged or very sensitive areas.

Customer Questions
The formula relies on three surfactants working in tandem. Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) is the primary anionic surfactant that creates the bulk of the foam and lifts away sweat, sunscreen film and surface dirt. To temper the potential harshness of SLES, the formula includes Cocamidopropyl Betaine, an amphoteric surfactant that softens the lather and helps maintain skin’s natural lipid layer after rinsing. Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, another mild amphoteric, further reduces irritation risk and contributes to a creamier feel. Finally, glycerin is added as a humectant; it attracts water to the skin’s surface during washing, which helps prevent the tight sensation that can follow a strong cleanser. Together these ingredients aim to remove excess oil and residue while leaving the skin feeling fresh rather than stripped.
Because the product contains fragrance, colourants and preservatives, individuals with very reactive or easily irritated skin should approach it with caution. The manufacturer advises performing a patch test: apply a small amount of the gel to a discreet area such as the inner forearm, wait 24 hours and observe for any redness, itching or discomfort. If no reaction occurs, the gel can be used on the body as directed. Avoid applying to broken, inflamed or severely sensitive zones (e.g., eczema patches) until the skin barrier has recovered. Should any irritation develop during regular use, discontinue immediately and rinse thoroughly. For those with known sensitivities to sulfates or specific fragrance components, consulting a dermatologist before incorporation into a routine is a prudent step.
For effective cleansing, dispense a modest amount—typically a teaspoon‑size (about 5 ml) for a full‑body wash, adjusting upward if you prefer a richer lather or have larger surface areas to cover. Apply the gel to wet skin, working it into a lather with your hands or a washcloth, focusing on areas prone to sweat or sunscreen buildup such as the back, chest and legs. Massage gently for 20‑30 seconds to allow the surfactants to lift impurities, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water until no slippery residue remains. The gel can be used daily, after exercise, during warm weather or whenever you desire a more invigorating shower experience. There is no need to leave the product on the skin; rinsing removes the cleansing agents while the glycerin helps retain surface moisture.
The formula highlights three distinctive components that give the shower gel its mineral‑botanical character. Shungite is a carbon‑rich mineral traditionally noted for its antioxidant‑like properties; in a wash‑off product it is included to align with formulations intended to help the skin feel less stressed by external factors such as pollution or UV exposure. Linnaea borealis extract derives from a northern flowering plant and contributes a unique botanical note that differentiates the scent profile from generic shower gels. Rose quartz powder, together with other mineral components, adds a subtle textural element and reinforces the idea of a toning, revitalising cleanse rather than a plain soap‑like wash. These ingredients do not act as active drugs; they are part of the sensory and conceptual design, aiming to make the washing step feel more refreshing and distinctive.
