This soap is different because it contains lanolin, a waxy substance that forms a light protective film on the skin and helps reduce moisture loss after washing. It also contains glycerin, a humectant that attracts water, and kaolin, a mild clay that helps the lather feel cleaner and more refined.
This product is described as a lanolin soap for gentle cleansing of the hands and body, not as a facial soap. Facial skin is generally more sensitive than the skin on the hands or body, and a soap that works well on the body can still feel drying or irritating on the face.
Even with a gentler soap, the way you wash your hands matters. Start with lukewarm water instead of hot water, because hot water removes more of the skin's natural oils. Wet your hands, work the soap into a lather, and clean all surfaces of your hands for about 20 seconds, including between fingers and under nails. Rinse thoroughly, because leftover soap can feel sticky or leave a film.
If your skin is easily reactive, the first step is to patch test. Apply a small amount of lather to the inside of your forearm, rinse it off, and watch the area for a day or two. If redness, itching, or a burning feeling appears, do not use the soap on larger areas.
A solid soap bar lasts longer when it can dry out between uses. After each wash, rinse the bar briefly, shake off excess water, and place it on a soap dish with drainage holes or a raised grid. This lets water run off and air circulate around the bar. If the soap sits in a puddle, it softens and dissolves much faster.
