FARMGRUPP Peppermint Leaves consist of dried leaves of the peppermint plant (Mentha piperita L.), one of the most widely cultivated and consumed aromatic medicinal herbs in the world and a staple of European herbal tea tradition. Peppermint is a natural hybrid of watermint (Mentha aquatica) and spearmint (Mentha spicata), and its distinctive aromatic character is primarily determined by the exceptionally high menthol content of its essential oil fraction (up to 50–55% of total volatile oil composition), alongside menthone, menthyl acetate, 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol), isomenthol, and limonene.
The dried leaves are an excellent and highly aromatic source of menthol and peppermint essential oil compounds. The herbal infusion brews to a characteristically bright, clear, pale golden-green colour with an intensely fresh, strongly minty, sweet-cool aroma dominated by menthol. PREPARATION (herbal infusion): Add 1 teaspoon (approx. 1.5–2 g) of dried peppermint leaves to a cup. Pour over 200 ml of freshly boiled water. Cover and steep for 10–15 minutes. Strain and serve hot or chilled. Adults: 1–2 cups daily.
WARNINGS: Discontinue use in case of individual intolerance. Not recommended in large amounts for persons with gastro-oesophageal reflux (peppermint may relax the lower oesophageal sphincter). Keep out of reach of small children — do not give peppermint oil-containing preparations to infants or young children under 2 years.
