Bio National Pepper Herbal Tea is a warming, invigorating spiced herbal tea blend from the GrinLab/Bio National range, combining the clean botanical peppery heat of black pepper (Piper nigrum) and the warm, anise-sweet exotic fragrance of star anise (Illicium verum) with the earthy base of ginger root (Zingiber officinale), goldenrod herb (Solidago virgaurea) and agrimony herb (Agrimonia eupatoria) in a caffeine-free blend. Black pepper (Piper nigrum) provides the characteristic sharp, pungent, spicy heat of piperine and the aromatic terpenes caryophyllene and pinene. Star anise (Illicium verum) provides the classic aniseed aroma of trans-anethole in a far more intense concentration than culinary anise. Ginger root provides zingiberene and gingerols for the warming, slightly spicy undertone. Goldenrod herb (Solidago virgaurea) has been used in European botanical tradition as a pleasant-tasting herbal ingredient and provides saponins, rutin and leiocarposide. Agrimony herb (Agrimonia eupatoria) has a mild, pleasantly astringent and slightly tart taste from tannins. The five-component blend creates a bold, warming, caffeine-free herbal tea with a complex spicy-aromatic character. 25 filter bags × 1.7 g.

What it is
Bio National Pepper Herbal Tea is a spiced herbal tea for people who enjoy a bold, warming cup without caffeine. The blend brings together black pepper, star anise, ginger root, goldenrod and agrimony, creating a fuller, more layered taste than a single-herb infusion. It is usually chosen on cold days, after meals, or whenever you want something aromatic and gently stimulating in character, but without the effect associated with coffee or classic tea.
What's in the blend
What makes this blend interesting is the way the plants build flavour in stages:
- Black pepper gives a dry, lively heat from piperine, the compound that creates its familiar peppery kick.
- Ginger adds a deeper warmth with a slightly zesty edge, so the spice feels rounder rather than sharp.
- Star anise brings a naturally sweet, liquorice-like note due to anethole, which softens the pepper and makes the aroma more expressive.
- Goldenrod and agrimony complete the cup with herbaceous, slightly meadow-like and faintly astringent tones, so the drink tastes balanced instead of simply hot or spicy.
This kind of botanical combination has a long culinary and herbal tradition. Ginger, pepper and anise have been used for generations in warming drinks across many food cultures, valued mainly for their rich aroma and satisfying sensory effect. In this BioNational herbal infusion, they are paired with European herbs that give the blend a more grounded, plant-based character. The result is not a sweet chai-style drink and not a plain medicinal-tasting herb tea either, but something in between: fragrant, spicy and pleasantly dry on the finish.
When people choose it
Bio National Pepper Herbal Tea fits well into:
- A calm evening break.
- A rainy-day mug at work.
- A lighter alternative to caffeinated beverages later in the day.
It can also be a good option for those who like expressive herbal blends and want more depth than mint or chamomile.
Important notes
- If you are sensitive to spices or aromatic herbs, start with a milder brew and see how the taste suits you.
- As with any herbal product, avoid it if you know you react to any of the listed plants.

Customer Questions
Bio National Pepper Herbal Tea stands out for its bold, warming taste, which is built from a combination of black pepper, ginger root, star anise, goldenrod, and agrimony. The black pepper provides a dry, lively heat, while ginger adds a deeper, rounded warmth with a zesty edge. Star anise introduces a naturally sweet, liquorice-like note that softens the pepper and enhances the aroma. Goldenrod and agrimony contribute herbaceous, meadow-like, and faintly astringent tones, balancing the overall flavor so the drink is not simply hot or spicy. Unlike single-herb infusions such as mint or chamomile, this blend is more complex and aromatic, with a fragrant, spicy, and pleasantly dry finish. It is not a sweet chai-style tea nor a plain medicinal-tasting herbal infusion, but something in between, making it a good choice for those who prefer expressive, layered herbal blends. If you are sensitive to spices or aromatic herbs, starting with a milder brew can help you adjust to its distinctive taste.
To bring out the full flavor of Bio National Pepper Herbal Tea, start by using one tea bag per cup (1.7g per bag). Pour freshly boiled water over the bag and let it steep for 5–10 minutes, depending on your preference for strength and aroma. A shorter steep (around 5 minutes) will yield a milder cup, highlighting the herbal and slightly sweet notes from star anise, goldenrod, and agrimony. A longer steep (closer to 10 minutes) will intensify the pepper and ginger warmth, resulting in a spicier, more robust drink. If you are new to spiced herbal teas or sensitive to strong flavors, begin with a shorter steep and taste before deciding to brew longer. This tea is naturally caffeine-free, making it suitable for evening or late-day enjoyment. You can drink it plain or, if desired, add a slice of lemon or a touch of honey for extra aroma and subtle sweetness. Always avoid use if you know you react to any of the listed plants, and consult a specialist before use if you have chronic conditions, are pregnant, breastfeeding, or take medication.
