Mellor & Russell Simply Essentials Monoi de Tahiti Hand Cream-Balsam is a cosmetic daily hand cream from the Simply Essentials range, formulated with Monoi de Tahiti oil as the principal luxury conditioning active. Monoi de Tahiti is a traditional Polynesian cosmetic oil produced in French Polynesia by macerating the blossoms of Tiaré gardenia (Gardenia taitensis) in refined coconut oil (Cocos nucifera) — traditionally by Polynesian women for use on skin and hair. Tiaré gardenia is a fragrant flower endemic to the Society Islands of French Polynesia and is one of the key botanicals of traditional Polynesian culture. The fragrance of Monoi is recognisably floral, light and tropical. Coconut oil in Monoi provides lauric acid and caprylic acid — short-chain saturated fatty acids with high skin and hair penetration — which condition the skin and protect it from moisture loss. The delicate floral fragrance is characteristic and long-lasting. The formula is enriched with coconut oil and honey extract for additional nourishing, barrier-supporting and skin-softening action. Regular use leaves the hands satin-soft, moisturised and protected from the drying effects of sun and wind. 75 ml tube.

The result is a cushioning, balm-like texture that absorbs to a smooth finish without the heavy, slick residue some oil-rich creams leave. It is formulated for everyday hand care — after washing, before going out in wind, or whenever hands feel tight or rough — and focuses on hydration and a light shielding effect rather than masking dryness for only a few minutes.
Use a pea-sized amount and massage it into clean, dry skin, paying attention to the knuckles, cuticles and the backs of the hands where dryness shows first. The cream works well after hand washing because soap and water strip the skin's natural oils; applying while the skin is still slightly damp helps lock in that residual moisture. It is also practical before heading out in windy or cold weather, as the oil-based layer helps shield against further moisture loss.
