ALTEJA Looduslik ürditee kadakaga 80 g is a herbal tea blend built around juniper, a plant long valued in Northern and Baltic traditions for its resinous aroma and warming character. People usually choose this kind of tea when they want a more expressive herbal drink than plain chamomile or mint, especially after meals or on cooler days.
What is in the blend
The main feature of this Alteja herbal tea is juniper cones. They contain essential oils that give the infusion its fresh, slightly woody scent, along with organic acids and tannins. In simple terms, tannins add a gently astringent note, while the aromatic compounds shape the tea’s distinctive taste and make the cup feel more invigorating. Alongside juniper, the blend includes:
- Melissa — softens the sharper juniper profile with a calmer herbal note.
- Chamomile flowers — round out the taste.
- Strawberry leaves — part of the botanical mix.
- Oak bark — part of the botanical mix.
- Linden flowers — add a mild floral touch.
Together, these herbs create a balanced drink rather than a single-note juniper infusion.
When people choose it
This juniper tea is often chosen as part of a quiet pause during the day, after a heavier meal, or when you want a caffeine-free alternative to black tea or coffee. Its flavor is more complex than standard herbal teas: slightly fresh, mildly bitter, aromatic and pleasantly warming. If you enjoy traditional botanical blends and forest-like notes, this herbal beverage may suit your table very well.
Important to know
Because ALTEJA Looduslik ürditee kadakaga contains several active herbs, it is best enjoyed in reasonable amounts. It is wise to check whether juniper-containing teas are suitable for you if you are:
- pregnant or breastfeeding;
- highly sensitive to herbal infusions;
- using products with a strong diuretic effect.

Customer Questions
The main flavor comes from juniper cones, which give the infusion a fresh, slightly woody scent and a mildly bitter, gently astringent note. In practice, that means the tea is more expressive than a typical chamomile or mint blend. The sharp juniper character is softened by melissa, which adds a calmer herbal tone, and by chamomile flowers, which round out the taste. Linden flowers contribute a light floral touch, while strawberry leaves and oak bark are part of the overall botanical mix. The result is a balanced cup: fresh, aromatic, pleasantly warming, and not a single-note pine-like drink. The astringency from tannins can leave a dryish feel in the mouth, but it is part of the tea's character rather than a flaw. If you are used to plain green or black tea, the absence of caffeine means no bitter tannic edge from tea leaves; here, the bitterness comes from the herbs themselves. Many people reach for this tea after a heavier meal or on cooler days, when a more complex hot drink fits the moment. Because taste perception varies, the first cup may seem strong; steeping for a shorter time or using slightly less herb gives a milder result.
Alteja juniper tea is a loose herbal mixture, so a simple infusion method works well. For one cup, take about one level teaspoon of the blend and place it in a cup or a small teapot. Pour freshly boiled water over the herbs. Herbal blends generally tolerate full boiling water better than green tea, so 95–100 °C is fine. Cover the cup with a saucer while steeping; this keeps the volatile aromatic compounds from the juniper cones and linden flowers in the cup. A steeping time of five to ten minutes lets the herbs release their flavor. If you prefer a softer taste, start with five minutes; for a more pronounced, warming cup, go closer to ten minutes. The tea will be darker and slightly more astringent with longer steeping. After steeping, strain the herbs or leave them at the bottom of the cup. Since the blend contains oak bark and larger pieces, a fine strainer makes pouring easier if you brew in a pot. Because this is a caffeine-free drink, you can enjoy it in the evening, but the taste is robust enough for an afternoon break as well. You can adjust the strength by using less or more herb, but try the standard amount first to see how it suits you.
This herbal tea is designed as an everyday drink in the sense that it contains no caffeine and can fit into a normal routine. The product description says it is best enjoyed in reasonable amounts, so the key is moderation rather than drinking it like plain water. No specific maximum number of cups is given, so let your own tolerance guide you. If you are not used to juniper, start with one cup to see how it sits. Some people are more sensitive to strongly aromatic herbs, and the product itself advises checking suitability if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, highly sensitive to herbal infusions, or using products with a strong diuretic effect. In those cases, or if you have a chronic condition or take medication, talk to a doctor or pharmacist before adding this tea to your routine. This is especially relevant because juniper has a traditional reputation for affecting fluid balance, although this product makes no such claim. The tea is not a substitute for a balanced diet and is not a medicine. Store the package closed in a dry, cool place to keep the herbs fresh.
