This is a warming ointment based on goose fat and beeswax – without essential oils or synthetic additives. It is chosen for rubbing the chest and feet in the cold and flu season, and also as a protective product for skin exposed to cold, wind or frost.
Many warming ointments contain essential oils – menthol, camphor, eucalyptus or turpentine. They give a pronounced smell and can cause irritation in people with sensitive skin or intolerance of sharp scents. This ointment has no such components: the composition is limited to goose fat and beeswax.
Goose fat and beeswax are natural components that are sensitive to heat and direct sunlight. It is better to keep the ointment in a cool place protected from light – for example, in the medicine cabinet or on a shelf away from a radiator. At high temperature the fatty base may soften or separate, which does not always affect its properties but changes the texture.
