What This Sauce Is
Bombbar Low-Calorie BBQ Sauce, 240 g is a practical option for people who want a richer grilled taste without adding much sugar or many calories. It works well with meat, fish, vegetables, side dishes and homemade bowls, and it can also be used as a pizza base or salad dressing when you want a smoky, slightly sweet BBQ-style note.
Key Ingredients and Texture
Its taste is built around a combination of core components that give the sauce depth and body:
- Tomato paste and apple purée — bring mild sweetness and body
- Paprika, garlic and onion — add savory depth
- Natural smoke extract — delivers the characteristic grilled aroma without long cooking
- Xanthan and guar gum — help the sauce stay thick and cling well to food, so a small amount goes a long way
- Sweeteners and isomaltooligosaccharide — provide sweetness and texture in place of regular sugar
Who Chooses It and Why
What makes this Bombbar sauce interesting is the low-calorie profile and the absence of added sugar. For many people, this makes it easier to keep sauces in a balanced eating plan, especially during weight-conscious meals, fitness-oriented menus or when reducing sugar intake without giving up familiar flavors.
How to Use It
This BBQ sauce fits naturally into simple everyday situations:
- Adding extra flavor to grilled chicken or baked fish
- Mixing into minced meat dishes
- Using as a dip for roasted vegetables
- Spreading a thin layer on pizza instead of a sweeter classic sauce
- Making plainer foods more appealing when you want variety in your meal pattern
Important Notes
Because it contains sweeteners, some people may prefer to start with a modest amount, especially if they are sensitive to such ingredients. If you have an individual intolerance to any component, it is best to avoid it. After opening, keep the sauce refrigerated to maintain taste and texture.

Customer Questions
Regular BBQ sauces often rely heavily on sugar, corn syrup, or high-fructose syrups for sweetness and thickness, which adds significant calories. This version is formulated differently. Its core sweetness comes from a combination of tomato paste and apple purée for a natural, mild fruit base, supplemented by specific sweeteners and isomaltooligosaccharide (a type of carbohydrate that contributes less sugar). The savory depth and characteristic grilled aroma are achieved with paprika, garlic, onion, and natural smoke extract. Thickness and cling are provided by stabilizers like xanthan and guar gum, which help a small amount go a long way. The overall result is a sauce designed to deliver familiar BBQ flavor—smoky, slightly sweet, and savory—with a reduced calorie profile, making it easier to fit into various eating plans. It is not a substitute for a balanced diet.
This sauce contains no added sugar, which aligns with goals for reducing sugar intake. Instead of regular sugar, it uses specific sweeteners and isomaltooligosaccharide to provide sweetness and texture. This approach allows the sauce to maintain a BBQ-style flavor profile while keeping the sugar content low. As with any product containing such ingredients, individual tolerance can vary. Some people may be sensitive to certain sweeteners or prefer to limit their intake. It's practical to start with a modest amount to see how you like the taste and how your body reacts. If you have a known intolerance to any listed component, it's best to avoid the product. The sauce is a convenient option for adding flavor without sugar, but it is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any disease.
The sauce has a thick, clingy consistency by design, thanks to ingredients like xanthan gum and guar gum. These are common food stabilizers that help prevent the sauce from being too runny, allowing it to coat and adhere well to food surfaces. This means it works effectively as a glaze or marinade for grilling chicken or baking fish, as it's less likely to slide off during cooking. It also makes it suitable as a dip for roasted vegetables or a spread on pizza bases. Because a small amount provides good coverage, you can use it sparingly. After opening, refrigerating the sauce helps maintain this texture. For best results, apply it in a thin, even layer to your protein or vegetables before or during the cooking process.
While excellent for grilled chicken or baked fish, this sauce's smoky, slightly sweet profile makes it versatile for many quick meals. You can mix a spoonful into lean minced meat for meatballs, burgers, or a Bolognese-style sauce to add depth without many extra calories. Use it as a dip for a platter of roasted cauliflower, carrots, or bell peppers. A thin layer spread on a whole-wheat pizza base before adding toppings provides a BBQ twist. Stir a small amount into plain Greek yogurt or skyr for a creamy salad dressing or a topping for grain bowls. It can also add interest to simpler foods like baked potatoes, scrambled eggs, or tofu, helping with meal variety when you want familiar flavor in a balanced eating pattern. Consult a specialist before use if you have chronic conditions.
