The characteristic aromatic terpene compound bornyl isovalerate — the principal isovaleric acid ester component of valerian essential oil — together with iridoid valepotriates, valerenic acid and related sesquiterpenoids, are the main biologically active constituents of the valerian root. The tincture format provides a concentrated liquid herbal extract format that is rapidly absorbed. Tincture drops: the preparation is taken in diluted drops.
