AromaSaules sea salt body scrub “Okaspuu” is a body exfoliator for bath, sauna or shower use, chosen when skin feels rough, dull or tired and you want a fresher, smoother surface. The base of sea salt buffs away dead skin cells mechanically, helping the skin feel cleaner and look more even without a heavy, greasy after-feel.
Key ingredients
What makes this scrub interesting is the combination of mineral-rich sea salt with coniferous ingredients:
- Sea salt — crystals polish the outer layer of the skin and can also help it feel more toned after rinsing.
- Pine extract — brings plant compounds such as tannins, organic acids and resinous substances, which are traditionally valued in bath rituals for their refreshing, soothing effect.
- Spruce essential oil — adds the characteristic forest aroma and gives the formula a brisk, invigorating character that fits especially well after a long day, after exercise, or during sauna use.
- Grape seed oil — balances the scrub by adding light emollient properties, so the skin is not only exfoliated but also left softer and less tight afterward. Compared with heavier oils, it has a lighter texture, so the product suits people who enjoy polished skin with a cleaner finish rather than an oily film.
When to choose it
This kind of salt scrub is a good fit for those who want to:
- Smooth dry areas such as elbows, knees and legs.
- Prepare the skin before applying body lotion.
- Add a more sensory step to their body care.
The conifer scent creates a distinctly woody, sauna-like experience, so it may appeal to anyone who enjoys Baltic bath traditions and fresh forest notes in body products.
Good to know
Because this is a fairly active exfoliating format, it is best used thoughtfully, especially on sensitive or easily reactive skin:
- Avoid applying it to irritated, freshly shaved or damaged areas.
- If you are sensitive to essential oils or strongly scented products, patch testing is a sensible first step.

Customer Questions
Because this is a fairly active mechanical scrub, the right frequency depends on your skin type, tolerance, and how your skin responds. As a starting point, using it once or twice a week is a sensible routine for most people. This allows your skin to recover between exfoliations. You can adjust from there: if your skin feels smooth and comfortable, this cadence works. If you notice any redness, tightness, or sensitivity, reduce usage to once every 10–14 days. Since the scrub is designed for a brisk, polishing effect, it’s not intended for daily use. It fits well into a weekly self-care ritual, perhaps on a weekend evening or after a sauna session. For best results, apply it to damp skin during a bath or shower, massage gently in circular motions (avoiding any irritated or freshly shaved areas), then rinse thoroughly. Follow with your regular body lotion if your skin tends to feel dry.
The scent comes from spruce essential oil, which gives the formula its characteristic forest aroma. It’s a distinctly woody, fresh, and brisk note – think of a clean, sauna-like pine or spruce forest, not a sweet or perfumed fragrance. The scent is noticeable during application and lingers lightly on the skin for a short while after rinsing, contributing to the overall sensory experience. It’s not overpowering, but if you are particularly sensitive to essential oils or prefer unscented products, it’s a good idea to patch test a small amount first. This coniferous character is a key part of the product’s identity, making it a good match for anyone who enjoys Baltic bath traditions or wants an invigorating, nature-inspired element in their body care routine. The grape seed oil helps balance the formula, so the scent isn’t sharp or medicinal.
If you have sensitive or easily reactive skin, extra caution is advised with any exfoliating product. The sea salt crystals provide a mechanical polish, which can be too abrasive for some sensitive skin types. The formula also contains spruce essential oil, which, while refreshing, is an ingredient some sensitive skin may react to. Before using it all over, perform a patch test: apply a small amount to a discreet area like your inner forearm, leave it on for a few minutes, then rinse. Wait 24 hours to check for any redness, itching, or discomfort. If no reaction occurs, you can try using it sparingly, focusing on tougher areas like elbows, knees, and heels, and avoiding thinner, more delicate skin. Always avoid applying it to any already irritated, broken, or freshly shaved skin. Because the grape seed oil provides a light emollient effect, the scrub leaves skin softer rather than tight, but if your skin is very dry or prone to eczema, you might prefer a gentler, cream-based exfoliant. If you have chronic skin conditions or are unsure, consulting a dermatologist before use is recommended.
This scrub is specifically formulated for use on the body and is not recommended for facial skin. The skin on your face is more delicate, thinner, and has more oil glands than body skin. The sea salt crystals, while effective for smoothing rough areas like elbows and knees, are too coarse and potentially irritating for facial use. Additionally, facial skin can be more reactive to essential oils, like the spruce oil in this product. Using it on your face could lead to micro-tears, increased sensitivity, redness, or disruption of your skin's barrier. For facial exfoliation, it’s better to choose a product designed for that purpose, typically with finer, gentler particles and ingredients suited to facial skin’s needs. This body scrub is ideal for your shower or bath routine to polish limbs, back, and torso, helping to create a smoother surface before applying body lotion.
The texture is a moist mixture of fine sea salt crystals held together by grape seed oil and other ingredients. It’s not a dry, loose salt; it’s a damp, scoopable paste. To use it neatly, take a small amount (about a tablespoon is plenty for one limb) directly from the jar with dry hands before stepping into the shower. Apply it to damp (not soaking wet) skin, as too much water can dissolve the salt too quickly. Massage gently in circular motions, then let it sit for a minute if you like, allowing the coniferous scent to envelop you. Rinse thoroughly – the salt will dissolve and wash away, while the light oil leaves a soft, non-greasy film. To prevent the product from getting watery in the jar, always use dry hands or a clean, dry spoon to scoop it, and keep the lid tightly closed between uses. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain its consistency and scent.
