AromaSaules Sea Salt Body Scrub “Lavender”
AromaSaules Sea Salt Body Scrub “Lavender” is a body exfoliator designed for use in the bath, sauna, or shower when you want a deeper polish than a regular wash can provide. People usually choose this type of scrub to remove the dull layer of dead surface cells, smooth rough areas such as elbows, knees, and heels, and leave the body feeling fresher and more even to the touch.
How sea salt works
The main working component here is sea salt. Its crystals provide mechanical exfoliation: as you massage the scrub over damp body skin, they help lift away built-up dead cells from the surface. Sea salt is also valued in bath and body products for its naturally occurring minerals, which can help the skin feel toned after rinsing. Massage itself stimulates microcirculation, which is one reason salt scrubs are often used before applying body oil or cream.
Key components
What gives this AromaSaules scrub more character is the combination of salt with lavender, rosemary, and grape seed oil:
- Lavender — traditionally used in body cosmetics for its refreshing aroma and for helping the surface feel smoother after exfoliation.
- Ground rosemary — adds an extra polishing element and is often included in body products aimed at areas that tend to feel dense or uneven.
- Grapeseed oil — helps balance the scrub so the finish is not overly harsh, softening the action of the salt and leaving the body less tight after washing.
When to use it
This scrub fits well into a weekly body-care ritual, especially if you:
- enjoy sauna products;
- want to prepare the skin before self-tanner;
- simply prefer a cleaner, more polished feel on rougher zones.
Important notes
Because salt scrubs can be quite active, it is best not to use them on irritated or damaged skin. If your skin is sensitive, start with a small area first and massage gently rather than vigorously.

Customer Questions
Sea salt scrubs like this one work through mechanical exfoliation; the salt crystals are typically more angular and harder than sugar granules, providing a more robust polishing action suitable for areas like elbows, knees, and heels where skin tends to be thicker and rougher. Sugar scrubs often dissolve more easily with water and can feel gentler, making them better suited for sensitive or facial skin. The "Lavender" variant also includes ground rosemary, which adds extra textural grit for a deeper polish, and grapeseed oil, which balances the scrub to prevent it from feeling too harsh or leaving the skin tight after rinsing. This particular scrub is formulated for a bath, sauna, or shower context where you want a thorough clean beyond what a daily wash provides. It is not a substitute for medical-grade exfoliation and should not be used on irritated or broken skin.
Yes, using a scrub before self-tanner is a common preparatory step to help achieve a smoother, more even application. This scrub, with its sea salt and rosemary, helps lift away dead skin cells that can cause patchiness. To use it effectively, apply the scrub to damp skin in the bath or shower and massage gently over the entire area you plan to tan, paying extra attention to rough zones like knees, elbows, and ankles. Rinse thoroughly. It is crucial to completely dry your skin afterwards and wait until it is fully cool and has no residual moisture or oil film, as any leftover residue can interfere with the tanning formula. Perform this scrub 12-24 hours before tanning, not immediately prior, to allow your skin's pH to normalize. Always follow the self-tanner's specific instructions and do a patch test first if you have sensitive skin.
For most people, using a body scrub like this one 1-2 times per week is sufficient to maintain smooth skin without over-exfoliating. A practical routine could involve using it during your usual shower or bath, perhaps on a day when you have more time, such as a weekend. After exfoliating, rinse well and follow with a body oil or cream while your skin is still slightly damp to lock in moisture; the improved microcirculation from the massage can enhance absorption. If you frequent the sauna, using it there can be effective as the heat softens the skin. Those with very dry or sensitive skin might start with once every 10-14 days, applying only to targeted rough areas and massaging very gently. Conversely, if you have particularly rough skin on your feet or elbows, you can use the scrub just on those zones more frequently. Always listen to your skin—if it feels tight, red, or uncomfortable, reduce frequency.
To maintain the scrub's consistency and effectiveness, store the jar in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources like radiators or bathroom windowsills. The natural oils (like grapeseed oil) can separate from the salt over time, especially with temperature fluctuations, so giving the jar a gentle stir before use is normal and recommended. While cosmetic products often have a Period After Opening (PAO) symbol indicating months of safe use after first opening, a general guideline for salt-based scrubs is to use them within 12-18 months. Signs the scrub may be past its prime include a significant change in texture (e.g., the oil becoming rancid, which is indicated by an off smell), discoloration, or the development of mold. Because the product is used on damp skin, always use clean, dry hands or a spatula to scoop it out to avoid introducing water and bacteria into the jar.
