Anise (Pimpinella anisum) is one of the most widely used culinary and herbal spice herbs in the world, providing a characteristic sweet, aromatic anise flavour profile. Liquorice root has a long history of use in herbal tea preparations and as a flavouring agent, contributing its characteristic sweet taste from naturally occurring glycyrrhizin.
