This toothpaste is a cosmetic product, not a medicine. It is intended to help manage the discomfort of dentine hypersensitivity — the short, sharp twinge triggered by cold, heat, sweet, sour, or touch. It does not treat underlying dental disease.
You should seek professional evaluation if:
Pain is spontaneous, throbbing, or lasts more than a few seconds after the trigger is removed.
Sensitivity appears suddenly without an obvious cause (recent whitening, aggressive brushing, acidic diet).
There is visible damage: a hole, crack, chipped filling, or receding gums exposing root surfaces.
You notice swelling, pus, bleeding gums, or a bad taste — signs of infection or gum disease.
Sensitivity does not improve after 6–8 weeks of twice-daily use as directed.
A dentist can identify whether the cause is decay, a failing restoration, cracked tooth syndrome, gum disease, bruxism, or erosion, and recommend appropriate treatment — which may include fluoride varnish, bonding, a night guard, or periodontal care. Using a desensitizing toothpaste alongside professional care is fine, but it should not replace necessary dental treatment.
