Anise essential oil is highly concentrated and has a potent, sweet-spicy aroma, so you need very little for effective diffusion. For a standard aroma lamp or small room diffuser, start with 2 to 3 drops. This is often enough to create a distinct, enveloping scent that makes a room feel calmer and cozier, especially in the evening. For larger spaces, you can increase to 4 or 5 drops. Its main aromatic compound, anethole, evaporates readily, so the scent is noticeable quickly but won't linger as aggressively as some synthetic fragrances. If you're blending it with other oils for a seasonal mixture, anise oil can act as a strong base note; using 1 drop of anise alongside 2-3 drops of a lighter oil (like citrus) creates a balanced, fuller aroma. Always add the drops to the water in your diffuser, not directly onto the heating element or ultrasonic plate. If the scent feels too strong after 15 minutes, you can dilute it further by adding more water to the reservoir.
