Sensitivity usually happens when the dentine layer under the enamel becomes exposed. Dentine contains thousands of microscopic tubules that run from the surface toward the tooth's inner nerve. When you drink something cold, eat something sweet, or brush, stimuli travel through these open tubules and trigger a sharp, short sensation.
This toothpaste is formulated to deposit a protective layer on the dentinal surface with regular use. Over time, that layer partially occludes the tubules, so external triggers have less direct access to the nerve. The effect builds gradually; it is not an instant seal after one brushing.
For the layer to form and hold, brush twice a day with a soft-bristled brush and avoid rinsing heavily with water immediately after brushing — spitting out excess foam is enough. Limiting acidic foods and drinks (citrus, carbonated beverages, wine) right after brushing also helps the protective layer stay intact.
