The cream format is the main practical difference from loose henna powder. Because the pigment is already suspended in an emulsion, you don't need to mix powders with water, wait for dye release, or manage a gritty paste that drips and clumps. You simply squeeze the product onto gloved hands or a brush and work it through damp, clean hair like a thick conditioner. This makes it much easier to achieve even coverage, especially at the roots and around the hairline where powder henna tends to slide off or dry unevenly.
Light or previously lightened hair (level 8–10): The henna base deposits a strong, fiery copper-red that reads almost like a semi-permanent fashion colour. Because the cuticle is more open, uptake is high and the shade lasts 4–6 weeks before noticeable fading. Medium blonde to light brown (level 6–7): You'll see a clear copper glow in daylight and under warm indoor lighting; indoors it may read as a rich auburn sheen rather than a true red. Dark brown to black (level 1–4): The pigment cannot lift your natural melanin, so the effect is a subtle warm reflex — think copper highlights that catch the sun — rather than an all-over colour change. Grey / white hair: Henna binds well to unpigmented strands, but because grey hair can be more resistant, the first application often yields a bright copper-orange that softens to a more natural copper after 2–3 uses spaced a week apart. Previously dyed hair: If you have permanent oxidative colour, the henna will coat the outside of the shaft; the result depends on how porous that old colour has made your hair. Always strand-test a hidden section (nape or behind the ear) first — process for the full time, rinse, dry, and wait 24 hours before committing to a full head.
Scalp sensitivity: Even though the base contains burdock oil, henna itself can be drying and slightly astringent. If you have a history of contact dermatitis, eczema, or psoriasis on the scalp, apply a thin barrier of petroleum jelly or a fragrance-free barrier cream along the hairline, ears, and nape before starting. Perform a standard patch test: dab a pea-sized amount behind the ear or on the inner forearm, leave 48 hours, and watch for redness, itching, or swelling. If any reaction occurs, do not use the product. Recently bleached, permed, or chemically straightened hair: These treatments raise cuticle porosity dramatically. Henna will grab onto that open structure faster and darker, so reduce the processing time to 15–20 minutes for the first application and check the strand test frequently. Uneven porosity (common after partial bleaching or overlapping relaxer applications) can lead to banding — darker bands where the hair is more damaged. If you see this during the strand test, consider a protein filler or a light oil pre-treatment on the most porous ends before applying the henna cream. General rule: Wait at least two weeks after any chemical service before using this product, and consult your stylist if you're unsure about your hair's current condition.
