Bio National Honey Herbal Tea is a caffeine-free herbal tea blend from the GrinLab/Bio National "Honey" tea range, crafted with a foundation of hand-harvested wild Siberian and Altai herbs, combining the characteristic richness of fermented Ivan chai (fireweed, Chamerion angustifolium) with buckwheat, cardamom and a natural honey flavouring for a warm, full-bodied and aromatic herbal blend. The centrepiece of this blend is fermented Ivan chai (fireweed leaf, also known as "koporye tea" in Russia), produced by fermentation of fresh fireweed leaves to develop a rich tannin and polyphenol profile similar in complexity to black tea, but completely caffeine-free; the fermented fireweed provides a deep, malty, slightly honey-like base note. Buckwheat adds earthy, toasty grain notes and provides rutin (a bioflavonoid). Cardamom fruit contributes its warm, aromatic spice notes from essential oil (cineole, alpha-terpinyl acetate).
