The mask is designed as a deeper cleansing step rather than a daily conditioner. For most people with oily roots and normal lengths, once a week works well. If your scalp gets greasy very quickly or you use heavy styling products daily, you might use it twice a week for a period, then scale back. If your scalp is sensitive or your ends feel dry, start with once every 10–14 days and observe how the hair feels after rinsing — it should feel lighter at the roots but not rough or squeaky on the lengths. Overuse of any charcoal-based product can leave hair feeling stripped, so treat it as a periodic reset, not a replacement for your regular conditioner.
Because the activated charcoal targets excess sebum and buildup, the most effective place to apply it is directly on the scalp and the first few centimeters of hair where oil accumulates. Use your fingertips to massage a small amount into the roots in sections, similar to how you would apply a scalp treatment. The plant-based conditioning complex in the formula will travel down the hair shaft during the leave-on time and especially during rinsing, giving the lengths a lighter conditioning effect without weighing them down.
