What it is
Fitocosmetic Fitocolor Cream Hair Dye 5.0 Dark Brown is a permanent hair color created for those who want a rich dark brown shade with a softer feel during colouring. People usually choose this type of cream formula when they want to refresh faded length, deepen their natural tone, or give the hair a more even-looking colour while keeping it smooth and glossy.
How the cream formula works
The texture matters here: a cream hair dye spreads more evenly than very liquid formulas, so it is easier to distribute through the hair from roots to ends. Permanent colour works by depositing pigment inside the hair shaft, which helps the shade last longer through washing. In this format, the colour change is paired with conditioning ingredients from the mask base, so the hair can feel less rough after the process and look shinier once rinsed out.
When people choose it
Fitocolor is a practical option for home colouring when you want a classic brunette result rather than a bold fashion tone. Dark brown shades like 5.0 are often chosen to:
- enrich natural brown hair
- cover a dull-looking tone
- create a deeper, more polished appearance
Because the formula is creamy, it can be convenient for people who prefer a neater application and better control, especially when working on regrowth or applying colour evenly through medium to long hair.
Good to know
As with any permanent hair colour, the final result can vary depending on your starting shade, previous colouring, porosity, and processing time. If your hair is very porous, lightened, or recently chemically treated, the colour may develop differently. It is sensible to do a strand test first and be extra cautious if you have a sensitive scalp or a history of reactions to hair dyes.

Customer Questions
The cream base is thicker than liquid or gel dyes, so it clings to the hair instead of dripping. This means you can work section by section without the product running onto the scalp, face, or clothing. For root regrowth, you can place the color precisely where new growth meets previously colored hair. On medium to long hair, the cream stays where you put it while you comb it through from roots to ends, helping you achieve an even deposit without over-saturating the porous ends. The mask-like base also contains conditioning agents that coat the hair during processing, so the strands feel less rough when you rinse compared to harsher liquid formulas. If you have ever struggled with runny dye pooling at the nape or staining the hairline, the cream format reduces that mess. It still requires a developer (usually sold separately or in the kit) mixed in a 1:1 ratio unless the package states otherwise; always follow the exact mixing ratio on the leaflet because the cream's viscosity is calibrated for that proportion.
Shade 5.0 is a standard depth-5 neutral brown with no strong warm or cool reflector. On natural level 4–6 hair it will deepen and enrich the existing tone, giving a polished, glossy brunette. On level 7 or lighter (blonde or light brown) it will deposit noticeably darker color, but the result may appear slightly warmer because the underlying pigment of lighter hair shows through. If your hair has been previously colored, the artificial pigment already inside the shaft will influence the outcome — old red or gold tones can make the result look warmer, while ash-based previous color can mute it. Porous, lightened, or chemically treated sections (highlights, perms, relaxers) absorb pigment faster and can turn out darker or more intense than the mid-lengths. That is why a strand test on a hidden section — using the exact mixture and timing you plan for the full head — is essential. Process the strand for the minimum recommended time, check, and extend in 5-minute increments up to the maximum if needed. Record the timing that gives your target shade and replicate it on the full application.
Permanent oxidative dyes contain paraphenylenediamine (PPD) or related sensitizers that can cause allergic reactions even after years of uneventful use. Perform the skin allergy test exactly as described in the leaflet: apply a small amount of mixed color behind the ear or on the inner forearm, leave 48 hours uncovered, and watch for redness, itching, swelling, or burning. Do this before every application, not just the first. Do not wash hair for 24–48 hours before coloring; natural sebum protects the scalp from irritation. Wear the gloves provided, cover shoulders with an old towel or cape, and apply a barrier cream or petroleum jelly along the hairline, ears, and nape to prevent skin staining. Mix the color and developer in a non-metallic bowl using the ratio stated on the package (typically 1:1). Use immediately — the mixture loses potency after 30–45 minutes. Section dry, unwashed hair into four quadrants. Apply first to regrowth if touching up roots, then pull through to ends only for the last 10–15 minutes of processing if the length needs refreshing. Rinse with lukewarm water until it runs clear, then use the post-color conditioner or mask included in the kit. Wait 48 hours before shampooing again to let the cuticle fully close and lock in pigment.
Permanent color fades primarily through shampooing, heat styling, and UV exposure. Switch to a sulfate-free shampoo formulated for color-treated hair; sulfates strip the lipid layer that holds pigment. Wash with lukewarm or cool water — hot water opens the cuticle and accelerates color loss. Limit washes to 2–3 times per week; dry shampoo on off-days extends the interval. Once a week, apply a rich hair mask (the same type of conditioning base used in this dye or any deep-conditioning treatment) for 10–15 minutes to replenish lipids and keep the hair glossy. Before blow-drying or using hot tools, apply a heat-protectant spray; excessive heat oxidizes the dye molecules, turning brown tones brassy. In summer or during holidays, wear a hat or use a leave-in product with UV filters — sunlight breaks down both natural melanin and artificial pigment. If the roots become visible before you want to re-color the full head, use a root touch-up powder or mascara for a temporary fix rather than overlapping permanent dye on previously colored lengths, which causes uneven darkness and damage. Schedule full re-application every 5–7 weeks depending on regrowth speed, and always repeat the allergy test each time.
