An ordinary moisturising cream is usually designed to be applied daily all over the body and has a light texture. A cream-balm is a denser format that is more convenient to use locally: on specific areas affected by dryness, flaking or a feeling of tightness.
The cream-balm works well as an addition to your main skincare routine, not as a replacement for it. It is convenient to apply it to specific areas straight after a shower or washing your hands, while the skin is still slightly damp: at that moment the barrier ingredients help to hold in the moisture that is already on the surface.
The cream-balm is a cosmetic product, not a medicinal one. Its formula includes plant ingredients: aloe extract and flaxseed oil. Most people tolerate such ingredients well, but an individual reaction to plant extracts is possible.
