How does this cream-balm with panthenol and aloe differ from an ordinary moisturising body cream?

An ordinary moisturising cream is usually designed to be applied daily all over the body and has a light texture. A cream-balm is a denser format that is more convenient to use locally: on specific areas affected by dryness, flaking or a feeling of tightness.

Three ingredients with different functions are at work in this product. Panthenol (provitamin B5) helps the skin retain moisture and return to a more even condition after it has been dried out. Aloe softens and eases the sensation of burning and tightness. Flaxseed oil is rich in fatty acids that strengthen the lipid barrier — the protective layer that helps the skin lose less moisture and cope better with external factors: wind, cold, dry air and frequent washing.

This combination makes the cream-balm a good choice specifically for problem areas rather than for use all over the body. It is handy to keep within reach as an SOS product — for example for elbows, heels, hands or other areas that react more strongly than the rest of the skin to seasonal conditions or everyday irritants.
