Pertussiin-V is a VITATEKA herbal syrup in the form of a food supplement. It is built around wild thyme (Thymus serpyllum) extract and vitamin C. The volume is 120 ml, and the product is preservative-free and suitable for vegans.

This article looks at the composition, what vitamin C actually does, how to take the syrup and what to keep in mind. It is a food supplement, not a medicine.

Composition

  • Wild thyme leaf extract (Thymus serpyllum) — a traditional aromatic herb long used in herbal products during the cold season;
  • Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) — 40 mg per 5 ml (50% of the reference daily intake);
  • sugar and deionised water — the syrup base;
  • ethanol (Alc. 9.5% vol.) — used as an extractant.

Preservative-free. A product of plant origin (vegan).

What vitamin C does

Vitamin C is an ingredient with confirmed properties. Vitamin C:

  • contributes to the normal function of the immune system;
  • helps reduce tiredness and fatigue;
  • contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism;
  • helps protect cells from oxidative stress;
  • increases iron absorption.

In the recommended daily dose, the syrup provides from 50% (5 ml) to 150% (15 ml) of the daily amount of vitamin C.

About wild thyme

Wild thyme (Thymus serpyllum) is a traditional aromatic herb that has been added to herbal blends and syrups for centuries, especially in the colder season. In Pertussiin-V it serves as the plant base of the syrup and the source of its characteristic herbal taste and aroma.

How to take it

Take 2.5–5 ml three times a day for 5–6 days. Use the measuring cup provided. We recommend shaking the bottle before use: as the syrup is made from natural ingredients and without preservatives, a small natural sediment may form.

Precautions

  • contains 9.5% vol. alcohol;
  • do not use during pregnancy and breastfeeding;
  • do not use in case of individual intolerance of the components;
  • do not exceed the recommended daily dose;
  • keep out of the reach of children.

Storage

Store at up to +20 °C, away from direct sunlight. After opening, store in a dark, cool place. Best before — 3 years.

Who it suits

  • those who want to support immunity with vitamin C in the autumn–winter period;
  • fans of herbal syrups with a familiar taste;
  • those who prefer preservative-free formulas.
