What this tea is
Alteja Herbal Tea with Sea Buckthorn, 80 g is a fruit-and-herb blend chosen for its bright, slightly tangy taste and gentle plant-based nourishment. Sea buckthorn has long been valued in Northern and Baltic food traditions, where its berries are appreciated for their naturally occurring carotenoids, vitamin C and other antioxidant compounds. In tea form, it offers a warming, easy way to enjoy these plants as part of a balanced lifestyle.
Key ingredients
What makes this blend interesting is that it uses both sea buckthorn berries and leaves.
- Sea buckthorn berries and leaves — the berries give the infusion a richer, fruitier profile, while the leaves add a lighter herbal note and their own spectrum of plant substances.
- Rose hips — bring extra tartness and are also known as a classic ingredient in vitamin-rich herbal drinks.
- Lemon balm — softens the overall flavour and is often chosen for a calmer evening cup or for moments when you want something soothing without caffeine.
When people choose it
This kind of herbal tea suits people who prefer warm, caffeine-free drinks, especially in cooler weather, during busy periods, or when plain water feels too boring. It can fit well into a morning meal, an afternoon pause, or a quiet evening at home. If you enjoy traditional herbal infusions, berry teas, or functional drinks with sea buckthorn and rosehip, this blend offers a pleasant middle ground between fruity and herbal.
Good to know
Because this is a simple loose herbal tea rather than a concentrated extract, its effect is gentle and food-like rather than intense. The main value is in the combination of taste, aroma and naturally present plant compounds. If you are sensitive to any of the ingredients or prone to plant allergies, start cautiously and discontinue use if any unwanted reaction appears.

Customer Questions
Most teas featuring sea buckthorn use only the dried berries, which primarily contribute a fruity, tangy taste and their associated compounds like carotenoids and vitamin C. This blend includes both the berries and leaves of the sea buckthorn plant, a less common practice that changes the character of the infusion. The leaves introduce a lighter, more distinctly herbal note to the flavour profile, softening the tartness from the berries and rose hips. From a composition perspective, the leaves contain their own spectrum of plant substances, which can differ from those in the berries. This means the tea offers a broader, more integrated experience of the sea buckthorn plant. If you’re familiar with berry-only versions, expect this one to taste less intensely fruity and more balanced, with the lemon balm further rounding out the cup for a calming, caffeine-free drink suitable for any time of day.
Yes, this tea is formulated as a loose herbal blend intended for regular, daily enjoyment as part of a balanced diet, not as an intense supplement. Its effect is gentle and food-like. For preparation, use one to two teaspoons of the loose blend per cup (about 200–250 ml). Pour freshly boiled water over it, cover the cup or teapot to prevent the escape of volatile aromatic compounds, and let it steep for 5 to 7 minutes. This allows the sea buckthorn berries, leaves, rose hips, and lemon balm to fully release their flavours and water-soluble compounds. You can drink it plain or add a touch of honey if you prefer a sweeter taste. Since it contains no caffeine, it fits well into morning, afternoon, or evening routines. As with any new food item, if you have known plant allergies or sensitivities, start with a small amount to see how your body reacts. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any disease.
Proper storage is key to maintaining the tea's quality. Keep the unopened or resealed package in a cool, dark, and dry place, away from strong odours, sunlight, and heat sources like stoves. An airtight container is ideal after opening. Over time, exposure to air, light, and humidity will degrade the dried herbs and berries. Signs that the tea is past its prime include a significant loss of the vibrant orange-red colour from the sea buckthorn and rose hips, a faint or stale aroma instead of a fresh, tangy-herbal scent, and any clumping or visible moisture in the blend. While properly stored loose tea can remain enjoyable for many months, it is best used within a year of opening for optimal flavour and compound preservation. If you notice any mould, discard the product immediately.
