Realcaps Vitamins A+E is a food supplement from the Realcaps range, providing a combination of two essential fat-soluble vitamins — vitamin A (retinol palmitate) and vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol acetate) — in a single soft gelatin capsule. Vitamin A (retinol) is an essential fat-soluble nutrient involved in normal vision and light perception, normal cell growth and differentiation, skin and mucous membrane integrity and the maintenance of normal immune function. Vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) is a key lipid-soluble antioxidant in human cell membranes, contributing to protection of cells from oxidative stress (EU health claim, Reg. 1924/2006). The capsule formula uses a vegetable oil base (sunflower, soybean or olive oil) as the carrier for the fat-soluble vitamins, ensuring optimum absorption.
EU authorised health claims: Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal vision, normal skin and mucous membranes, normal iron metabolism and the normal function of the immune system. Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

COMPOSITION: Unrefined vegetable oil (or a mix of refined and unrefined oil) (sunflower, soybean or olive), Alpha-Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E), Retinol Palmitate (Vitamin A) with BHT antioxidant. Capsule shell: Gelatin, Glycerol (humectant), Water, Sodium benzoate (preservative).
CONTENT PER DAILY DOSE: Vitamin E 65 mg (650%*) | Vitamin A 2400 µg (300%*); *% of the recommended daily intake level (RUSP: vitamin E 10 mg, vitamin A 0.8 mg). Per capsule: alpha-tocopheryl acetate 100 mg (100 IU), retinyl palmitate 4.7 mg (8000 IU).
USE: Adults: 1 capsule 1 time per day with food. Duration of use: 2-4 weeks; may be repeated after a month.
WARNINGS: Food supplement — not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the recommended dose — excessive vitamin A intake (retinol) is harmful; long-term high-dose use is not recommended during pregnancy. Contains gelatin (animal-derived) and soy oil. Vitamins A and E are fat-soluble: they need a fatty environment to be absorbed, which is why an oil-based capsule is well suited to taking them together with food. Combining them in one capsule is above all a matter of convenience: there is no need to keep track of two separate supplements.
Unlike water-soluble vitamins, vitamin A accumulates in the body, so an excess of it may be undesirable. This is especially important to consider if you are already taking other supplements or medicines containing retinol or retinyl palmitate: the total dose from several sources may turn out to be higher than necessary.
Vitamins A and E are fat-soluble, meaning that fats need to be present in food for them to be absorbed properly. Taking the capsules on an empty stomach is not recommended: without a fat component in the meal, absorption will be poorer. It is best to take them with a main meal that contains at least a small amount of fat: for example, with a breakfast including eggs or butter, or with a lunch or dinner including meat, fish, nuts or vegetable oil.
