Vitamins A and E are fat-soluble: they need a fatty environment to be absorbed, which is why an oil-based capsule is well suited to taking them together with food. Combining them in one capsule is above all a matter of convenience: there is no need to keep track of two separate supplements.
In terms of their focus, they complement each other. Retinyl palmitate (a form of vitamin A) is involved in the renewal of skin and mucous membrane cells, supports the visual system — especially when adapting to twilight — and is necessary for normal cell division and tissue growth. Alpha-tocopheryl acetate (a form of vitamin E) acts as an antioxidant: it helps protect cell membranes from oxidative stress caused by free radicals.
So one component focuses on the condition of the skin, mucous membranes and vision, and the other on protecting cells from adverse external factors. Both are relevant during periods of unbalanced eating, a heavy workload or seasonal changes, when the diet becomes monotonous.
It is important to remember that the supplement does not replace a balanced diet and is not intended to address medical problems. If you take other medicines or supplements containing vitamin A or E, take the total intake of these vitamins into account.
